LRC-120

The LRC series was developed for reliable, networked manufacturing. Sensors are built into the centre chuck, which can transmit data directly to the machine control system via the Blum Novotest transmitter unit. This allows the clamping force and position of the jaws to be monitored at any time. The large stroke of the jaws makes it possible to machine different workpieces without the need for re-set-up, making the LRC the ideal automation centre chuck.

Hydraulic, centric long-stroke clamping device

The Gremotool LRC long-stroke clamping device is designed for machining centres equipped with a handling system. Thanks to the large jaw stroke of 55 mm on each side and the automatable jaw interface, workpiece dimensions ranging from 12 to 300 mm can be accommodated without the need for manual intervention. This flexibility on the machine table makes it possible to produce workpieces, even in small batch sizes, between larger production runs, without the need for further set-up work.

Process reliability with sensors

To ensure that automated production runs smoothly, the machines used must be able to communicate with one another. With the integrated Blum Novotest MG81, the jaw position and clamping pressure can be queried from the machine via the RC66 at any time. This makes it possible to verify whether the correct workpiece is clamped correctly. The LRC long-stroke clamping unit is fitted with an integrated brake and a shut-off valve. This ensures that the clamping force is maintained even in the event of a drop in pressure.

Clamping force

Sufficient clamping force must be available to secure the workpieces in the LRC long-stroke clamping unit. The maximum pressure of 180 bar generates a clamping force of 40 kN at each jaw. When clamping delicate workpieces, the hydraulic pressure can be reduced, which in turn reduces the clamping force. The double-acting cylinder system allows clamping forces to be applied both from the outside in and from the inside out.


Centring

Thanks to integrated safety measures, the forces acting on the centring mechanism are reduced by slide locking brakes and shut-off valves. Even when machining in the feed direction, the centring mechanism is subjected to minimal stress, which results in reduced maintenance requirements and ensures that the workpiece remains in the centred position.


Mounting options

To increase the flexibility of the LRC long-stroke clamping device, it is possible to obtain a version with an integrated zero-point clamping pallet interface in addition to the standard interface for 50 mm perforated panels. This allows the long-stroke clamping device to be removed from the machine by the handling system.


Chips and coolant

In automated production, chips on the clamping device are undesirable. Thanks to the design of the LRC long-stroke clamping device, chips do not remain on the clamping system. The sloping surfaces carry the chips away from the device with every stroke and prevent chip build-up from becoming jammed. There are no open pockets in which chips can accumulate.
